Manufacturing Engineer – Robotics & Process Development
Pay Rate: $50–$70/hour
Duration: 1 year, with potential for extension based on business needs
Location: Columbus, IN - 100% Onsite
Schedule: Monday–Friday; first 6 months on days, followed by 6 months on nights
Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer with 3+ years of broad plant-floor manufacturing engineering experience to support manufacturing process development, equipment and tooling improvements, robotics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on FANUC robot programming experience, with ArcTool/robotic welding experience strongly preferred. This is not a robotics-only position; the engineer will be responsible for owning and supporting a variety of manufacturing engineering projects involving processes, equipment, tooling, safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Program and troubleshoot FANUC robots using ArcTool or HandlingTool.
- Lead end-to-end manufacturing process development for assigned projects.
- Develop, implement, and standardize manufacturing methods, processes, equipment, and tooling.
- Support VPI/NPI and manufacturing launch activities.
- Optimize equipment performance and manufacturing processes to improve productivity, quality, cycle time, and cost.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, structured problem solving, and data-driven analysis.
- Identify and implement improvements related to cycle time, ergonomics, safety, quality, waste reduction, and workstation design.
- Support new equipment installation, debugging, commissioning, and process integration.
- Interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T to manufacturing processes and equipment/tooling solutions.
- Evaluate and implement equipment and tooling solutions that meet product specifications and manufacturing requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience preferred.
- 3+ years of broad, hands-on plant-floor manufacturing engineering experience required.
- Hands-on FANUC robot programming experience required.
- Experience with FANUC ArcTool or HandlingTool required.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and understand GD&T.
- Experience with manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling improvements.
- Experience supporting manufacturing projects from development through implementation.
- Willingness to work 100% onsite.
- Must be willing and able to work the required day/night shift rotation.
Highly Preferred Qualifications
- Robotic welding / welding process experience.
- FANUC ArcTool experience.
- Experience with emissions, exhaust, or aftertreatment manufacturing.
- VPI/NPI and manufacturing launch experience.
- New equipment installation, debugging, commissioning, or startup experience.
