Job summary

Sheridan in Hanover, PA is seeking a Manufacturing Associate who will train on the job and assist operators with basic set-up in casing-in and binding, inspect products, and ensure quality throughout the line.

This entry-level role offers hands-on training on first shift (7 AM–3 PM, Mon-Fri) in a manufacturing environment with safety policies and opportunities to advance as you gain skills.

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical and math skills required.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks for an extended period of time.
• Knowledge of arithmetic and structure and content of the English language to include the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition required.
• Ability to work independently with little direction and follow up to complete assignments required.
• Ability to demonstrate practical and technical knowledge of the job including an understanding of work instructions, processes, equipment, and materials to perform the job required.
• Ability to complete work and required paperwork thoroughly, accurately, and neatly following established processes and procedures required.
• Ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and adherence to safety policies, procedures, and work rules required.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work overtime and other shifts required.
• Prompt and reliable attendance required.

Responsibilities

• Perform casing-in functions including moving materials, setting in-feed, counter stacker, and packing machines; print carton labels.
• Perform binder functions including loading feeders, moving conveyors, and counting leftover materials.
• Feed, check, and take products off the line.
• Collate, wrap, and repair product.
• Maintain cleanliness and general housekeeping in the department.
• Identify and implement simple process improvements.

MANUFACTURING ASSISTANT

Job Summary

Responsible for assisting operators with basic set-up functions in casing-in and binding, and for inspecting product while feeding, piling down, and cartoning product to ensure highest level of quality.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Perform casing-in functions to include moving materials; changing nipping bars; setting in-feed, counter stacker, tapers, and/or cartoning machines; and printing carton labels.
• Perform binder functions to include moving materials; loading and setting stream feeders; moving conveyors; counting leftover materials; and other basic machine set-up.
• Feed, check, and take products off the line.
• Collate, wrap, and repair product.
• Responsible for cleaning and general housekeeping in department.
• Continually identify, develop, and implement improvements in work processes.
• Consistently and effectively serve as a positive role model by living Sheridan’s core values.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with regular exposure to dust, dirt, noise, and physical hazards of machinery, plus some exposure to fumes, oils, lubricants, and chemicals. Position requires ability to move with ease in the production area; remain in stationary position for prolonged periods of time on concrete/hard surface; use hands and fingers constantly for handling, gripping, and manipulating product; constantly position oneself to complete work including bending, twisting, rotating, and reaching; and move product weighing up to 50 pounds.
