Job summary

Palomar Products, located in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Assembler to assemble parts and components to our production standards. You will work in a busy production environment and exhibit meticulous attention to detail.

The role requires reading work orders, following drawings, soldering and wire prep, conformal coating masking, and final unit cleanup. Level progression from Level I to III involves increasing complexity and responsibility.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Reads work orders, follows production drawings and sample assemblies
  • Identifies / labels CCAs & LRUs
  • Assembles CCAs to chassis sub-assemblies
  • Performs mechanical rework per instructions
  • Performs final unit level clean-up
  • Performs conformal coating masking, coating removal & touch-up
  • Performs wire prep and basic wire wrap
  • Supports engineering as needed
  • Performs solder rework on CCAs
  • Performs Wire Wrap at all levels
  • Reads DWGs, PLs, WLs, ECNs and Work Instructions for accuracy

Manufacturing Assembly Technician

Department: Manufacturing

Reports to Title: Operations Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Assembler to be responsible for assembling parts and components according to the company's production standards. The successful candidate will be able to work in a production environment and possess excellent attention to detail.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Reads work orders, follows production drawings and sample assemblies, or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed
  • Identifies / labels CCAs & LRUs
  • Integrates / assembles CCAs to chassis sub-assemblies
  • Performs mechanical rework per rework instructions
  • Performs final unit level clean-up
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Performs conformal coating masking, automated coating, coating removal & touch-up, bonding on CCAs
  • Performs wire prep and basic wire wrap by understanding how to read and follow the Wire List, Cut List, and Work Instructions
  • Requires minimal assistance or instructions from the manufacturing engineer with normal drawing documentation data package. Can perform more complex assembly with engineering assistance
  • Performs solder rework on CCAs with through hole and SMT components
  • Performs Wire Wrap at all levels from connector assembly to final unit assembly
  • Comprehends our documentation such as DWGs, PLs, WLs, ECNs, EOs, and Work Instructions enough to identify any errors / required changes
Qualifications
  • Good Verbal and written English communications skills
  • Computer skills: Outlook, Word, Excel, PDF, Teams, and online training capabilities
  • Mechanical Assembly Experience
  • Basic or Proficient soldering and wire prep experience
Level I

High School Diploma and 0-2 Years Experience

  • Basic understanding of mechanical assembly
Level II

High School Diploma and 3-5 Years Experience

  • Thorough understanding of testing and troubleshooting of LRUs and circuit cards down to the component level including interpretation of a variety of schematics and wiring diagrams under the guidance of a test engineer and or Sr. Test technician as required
Level III

High School Diploma and 6-10 Years Experience

  • Proficient understanding of testing and troubleshooting of LRUs and circuit cards down to the component level including interpretation of a variety of schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Perform rework on circuit card assemblies using basic soldering skills to remove and replace through hole and SMT components
  • Minimal guidance from test engineer
Physical Demands

Work is performed in a production environment and regularly requires sustained performance of physically demanding work including lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20 to 50 pounds) and dexterity of arms, hands and fingers to operate hand and/or power tools such as drills, hammers for performing facility maintenance and inspection. Job Essential functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for standing, walking, constant bending, twisting, reaching, climbing, kneeling and occasional use of safety/protective equipment.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Salary Range: $22 - $28 per hour
