Job summary

AMETEK, Inc. is seeking a skilled assembler for our Paragon Medical Orthopedics unit in Indiana. You will assemble customer products from blueprints and instructions, and operate a range of machine tools to shape jigs, fixtures, and tools.

You will read prints, set up mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses, and apply careful inspection to ensure quality. A high school diploma and at least one year of tool-room experience are required, with a strong emphasis on precision and safety.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one year experience with manual tool room equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints or works from verbal or written instructions of the part to be copied or fitted.
  • Operate manual mills, manual lathes, surface grinders, drill press, polishing wheel, thermal press and other equipment, as necessary.
  • Assemble customer product according to print & instruction and perform required inspection before, during and after machining.
  • Fits and assembles jigs, fixtures and tools.
  • Performs visual inspections for burrs.
  • Perform deburring operation of parts, as required.
  • Assist in the development of assembly work instruction processes.
  • Organization and maintenance of all assembly fixtures.
  • Maintain a clean work area and assure safe operation of all equipment.
  • Complete required preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Assure all policies and procedures are followed and safety precautions are taken to reduce the risk of injury.
  • Be able to meet the visual acuity requirements (shades of color and color blindness).
  • Be able to meet the requirements of the vision screening test .

Job Description:
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
  • Responsible for assembling customer product according to specific instruction. To build or repair all types, sizes, and shapes of jigs, fixtures, and tools.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Reads and interprets blueprints or works from verbal or written instructions of the part to be copied or fitted.
  • Operate manual mills, manual lathes, surface grinders, drill press, polishing wheel, thermal press and other equipment, as necessary.

OCCASIONAL DUTIES: as directed by supervisor/manager
  • Will assist Production Manager or Engineering in other functions, as required.
  • Once employee demonstrates competency in position, he/she may be required to train others in similar roles.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one year experience with manual tool room equipment is preferred.
SKILLS:
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to be a team player.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly.
  • High degree of precision and control in work where damage could be high and where muscular control and delicate touch are required.
  • High degree of attention and care required, to prevent injury to self and others when operating machine tools.
  • Must be mechanically inclined with a strong attention to detail.
