Job summary

Foundry Robotics in Emeryville, CA seeks a Manufacturing Applications Engineer to bridge customer needs with factory capabilities. You will translate drawings, BOMs, and volumes into a DFM review, process flow, cost model, and a proposal, then hand a complete package to manufacturing so execution aligns with the customer's intent. Travel to client sites across the U.S.

is expected 30–40% of the time. This is an engineering role, not a support role, and you define how Foundry scopes and estimates

Qualifications

• 5–10 years in manufacturing engineering, NPI or applications engineering.
• 2+ years customer-facing at contract manufacturer or hardware supplier.
• Hands-on familiarity with mechanical/electromechanical assembly and testing/inspection.
• 3D CAD proficiency to review designs and give DFM/DFA feedback.
• Experience with AS9100/ISO/IATF quality systems and revision control.

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery calls and customer visits with go-to-market, qualifying fit before engineering time is committed.
• Own technical intake: drawings, BOM, volumes, tolerances, certification requirements, export controls.
• Run DFM/DFA reviews and deliver written findings for customer action and manufacturing use.
• Provide inputs behind every quote: process steps, labor, cycle-time, tooling, supplier quotes, lead times, NRE.
• Scope design-services engagements with deliverables and engineering-hour estimates for SOW.
• Define build standards with customers prior to PO and ensure AS9100 compliance.
• Hand off a complete technical package at PO and remain the technical contact through first-article and pilot delivery.
• Develop reusable intake forms and cost models feeding into FoundryOS and cell roadmaps.
