Job summary

Dover Precision Components is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to operate and set up multiple machines, interpret drawings, and perform first piece inspections. You will maintain records and assist in training other machinists, while upholding safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include selecting tools, machining to tight tolerances, performing routine PM, and contributing to continuous improvements in the shop. Prior experience with gas valve components is preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating manual machines in a gas compression valve shop.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Some trade school or on-the-job training is required to become proficient.
• Technical training in shop math and blueprint reading is necessary.
• 0–5 years of manual machinist experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• W o r k s from drawings, sketches and specifications to complete various machining operations.
• Performs machine set ups to obtain close tolerances, fitting and alignment of machined parts.
• Obtains inspections on first pieces and in-process using measuring devices.
• Maintains records of time, part counts, first piece inspections, and requisitions.
• Manufactures jigs, fixtures or non-production devices as qualified.
• Purchases raw material, supplies, tools when necessary.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area; adheres to quality standards.
• Trains other machinists as requested; performs first piece inspections for others.
• Grinds tools when necessary; performs routine PM on machines.
• Troubleshoots drawings, tooling, programming and materials; recommends process improvements.
• Operates machinery safely and uses GD&T on prints.
• Monitors equipment and prevents production loss; ensures proper setup and interpretation of prints.
