Summary:
At the Cleveland, Ohio site our focus is manufacturing or remanufacturing of high-quality armature, stator, OEM coils, and field service coils for the transit industry while maintaining high quality. The manual machinist is responsible for turning, undercutting, and balancing rotors and armatures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the fabrication of internal requirements, setting up and manually operating lathe to perform multiple machining and cutting operations. Sets up and operates engine lathe to machine metallic and non-metallic work pieces to specifications, tooling instruction and standard charts, applying knowledge of machining methods. Read blueprints or job order specifications, such as dimensions and tolerances, tooling instructions on holding devices, feed rates, cutting speed, depth of cuts, and cutting tools. Positions and secures tools in holders, using wrenches. Lifts work pieces manually or with hoist. Positions and secures work piece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers or fixture, using clams and wrenches. Sets specified speed, feed rate, and depth of cut. Positions tool in relation to work piece. Observes cutting action of machine to detect excessive wear or malfunction. Verified conformance of machined work piece to specifications, using micrometers, calipers, and fixed gauges. Will be trained on other armature manufacturing equipment.
