Qualifications

Summary:

At the Cleveland, Ohio site our focus is manufacturing or remanufacturing of high-quality armature, stator, OEM coils, and field service coils for the transit industry while maintaining high quality. The manual machinist is responsible for turning, undercutting, and balancing rotors and armatures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for the fabrication of internal requirements, setting up and manually operating lathe to perform multiple machining and cutting operations. Sets up and operates engine lathe to machine metallic and non-metallic work pieces to specifications, tooling instruction and standard charts, applying knowledge of machining methods. Read blueprints or job order specifications, such as dimensions and tolerances, tooling instructions on holding devices, feed rates, cutting speed, depth of cuts, and cutting tools. Positions and secures tools in holders, using wrenches. Lifts work pieces manually or with hoist. Positions and secures work piece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers or fixture, using clams and wrenches. Sets specified speed, feed rate, and depth of cut. Positions tool in relation to work piece. Observes cutting action of machine to detect excessive wear or malfunction. Verified conformance of machined work piece to specifications, using micrometers, calipers, and fixed gauges. Will be trained on other armature manufacturing equipment. Balancing Undercutting Operate Manual Drill Press Run Manual Lathe Manufacture Tooling Create fixtures Utilize knowledge of shop math to convert standard and metric, Celsius and Fahrenheit Operate surface grinders inside and outside diameter Stick, Tig, and Mig weld

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Experience with manual lathes
  • Experience with manual set-ups of CNC machines.
  • High School graduate, or general education degree required.
  • Three years minimum industry experience in manufacturing or transportation and/or training.
  • Possess basic ship math skills, and ability to read and interpret blueprints.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Familiarity with brazing or soldering.
  • Must be able to use mechanical & pneumatic tools, electrical test equipment, and measuring instruments.
  • Strategic and creative thinking to analyze issues that may arise and create solutions.
  • Ability to respond positively to feedback and implement change in process and procedures as needed.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of use of Bridgeport machine
  • Ability to interpret and fabricate from blueprints and drawings
  • Knowledge of fractions and basic algebraic equations
  • Ability to design based on visual inspection of item, based on needs
  • Mechanical ability.
  • Individually motivated; self-starter

Physical Demands:

  • Employee is regularly required to stand for 8 hours at a time, with minimal breaks.
  • Employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds.
  • Employee is regularly required to see and observe small handwriting, labels, and components.
  • Employee is regularly required to operate heavy machinery, including but not limited to forklifts and cranes.
  • Employee is regularly required to wear a steel toe shoes and safety glasses at all times.
  • The Position requires the employee to be on-site during scheduled shift to perform daily duties and responsibilities.
