Job summary

TEAM Industrial Services in Alvin, TX is seeking a skilled machinist to operate lathes, milling machines and grinders to produce precision parts and instruments. You will review engineering specifications, select tools, materials and the sequence of cutting operations, and verify finished work against tolerances.

Ideal candidates have experience with manual lathes or turret lathes, can read calipers and micrometers, and can provide their own hand tools as needed.

Qualifications

The following outlines the essential functions and requirements for the position.

Essential Job Functions

• Maintains a safe, secure and healthy environment by adhering to Company/Customer safety standards and practices and to legal regulations, alerting others regarding potential hazards or concerns.
• Performs all duties as assigned and adheres to TEAM's Core Values.
• Operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to produce precision parts and instruments.
• Reviews engineering specifications for a work order and performs calculations to determine the right tools, materials, and sequence of cutting and finishing operations.
• Measures, examines and tests completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments.
• Aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines.
• Monitors the accuracy of machining work.

Job Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience with manual lathes, vertical turret lathe or horizontal boring mills required.
• Ability to read calipers and micrometers preferred.
• Ability to provide all hand tools as needed to complete daily tasks specified by the Shop Foreman.

Work Conditions

• Position is based out of Alvin.
• Working in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels.
• Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection.

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds.
• Must be able to walk and climb except when performing non‑field duties.
• Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits employee to communicate effectively.
