Position: Manual machinist

Main Responsibilities:

  • Review Specifications: Analyze samples, drawings, or instructions to understand output specifications.
  • Measurement and Marking: Take precise measurements and mark materials for cutting or shaping.
  • Job Planning: Plan the sequence of actions necessary for job completion.
  • Machine Selection: Choose appropriate machines (e.g., lathes) and position or load materials accordingly.
  • Machine Monitoring: Monitor machine operations to adjust feed rates, maintain temperature, and identify any issues.
  • Batch Programming: Determine and program the size of batches and the speed of the machine.
  • Quality Control: Monitor output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard any defective items.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance on machines and repair minor damages as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Vocational school or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Dexterity and Attention to Detail: Excellent manual dexterity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Tool Experience: Experience using and/or programming manual, semi-automated, or automated tools and machines (e.g., lathes, grinders).
  • Precision Measurement: Ability to use precision tools (e.g., calipers) for accurate measurements.
  • Blueprint Reading: Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
  • Material Knowledge: Knowledge of metal properties and other materials.
  • Mathematical Skills: Outstanding mathematical skills and analytical abilities.
  • Physical Stamina: Physical strength and stamina to lift heavy items.
