Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual machining equipment, including lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to produce precision metal components.
- Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
- Use precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and dial indicators, to verify part dimensions and quality.
- Select and set up appropriate tooling, fixtures, and equipment for efficient and accurate machining.
- Perform machine setup and adjustments with a strong focus on precision, efficiency, and quality.
- Inspect completed parts using GD&T standards to ensure compliance with engineering specifications.
- Maintain accurate and consistent workmanship throughout the machining process.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with established safety procedures.
- Follow company quality standards and aerospace manufacturing requirements.
Requirements
- Strong mechanical knowledge and the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in manual machining using lathes, milling machines, grinders, and related equipment.
- Experience using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
- Ability to read and apply GD&T requirements accurately.
- Knowledge of tool selection, tooling setup, and machine calibration.
- Familiarity with CNC machining concepts is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge or experience with EDM techniques is preferred.
- Basic mathematical skills for measurements, calculations, and unit conversions.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of metal properties and machining techniques.
- Experience using hand and power tools in a manufacturing or machining environment.
