Job summary

StandardAero in Maryville, TN is seeking a Machinist II to set up, adjust, and operate manual and CNC machine tools to manufacture and repair aerospace components to precise specs. You will read blueprints, verify dimensions with precision instruments, support continuous improvement, and help train other technicians while adhering to safety and quality in a regulated aerospace environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with manual and CNC machining.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience using production, ERP, or MRO systems to document labor hours, materials, and work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, specification manuals, layouts, and work instructions to determine machining operations.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances; measure, lay out, and verify workpieces using precision instruments (calipers, gauges, micrometers).
  • Set up and adjust Manual & CNC machine tools; troubleshoot and modify setups to meet required specifications.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure conformance to technical requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the production cell.
  • Cross-train in complementary skills and support production requirements.
  • Support training and development of other technicians as needed.
  • Follow all applicable safety requirements and report unsafe conditions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

As a Machinist II, you will set up, adjust, and operate Manual & CNC machine tools to manufacture and repair components to precise specifications. This role supports safety, quality, and continuous improvement within a regulated aerospace environment. Shift requirement: Day shift M-F. This position may require flexibility to work multiple shifts as needed to support business demands. No regular shift rotation and no overnights.

What You Will Do

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with manual and CNC machining
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience using production, ERP, or MRO systems to document labor hours, materials, and work instructions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with high accuracy and precision.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, tool design, fabrication methods, metallurgy, and heat treating.
  • Experience working with welding, hydraulics, electricity, or pneumatic systems.
  • Familiarity with production management systems and internal control processes.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate specialized technical information.
