Job summary

John H. Carter Company in Indiana seeks a skilled machinist for valve repair. You will safely and accurately perform various machining processes, machines parts on lathes, mills, and grinders, and ensure quality through DRO knowledge and precise measurements.

Qualifications

  • High School or equivalent
  • Technical/Trade School preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years in the valve repair industry
  • TWIC, OSHA Safety, Security Passport

Responsibilities

  • Safely and accurately perform machining processes
  • Maintain knowledge of digital read-outs (DRO)
  • Machine nozzles and discs including polishing using the lathe in the shop and the field
  • Machine broken studs on small bodies using the drill press
  • Hone internal bores
  • Use magnetic drill for stud removal
  • Use drill press or pneumatic tools for disking seats
  • Machine flanges (raised-face, RTJ ring joint, Grayloc, lens-ring, etc.)
  • Machine seats and trim (gate, globe, and check valves)
  • Machine gear operator segments
  • Operate milling machine, VTL, drill press, surface grinder, horizontal mill, manual lathes, honing tools, band and cut-off saw, and Lap Master

Typical Duties & Responsibilities
