Job summary

Sulzer is seeking a Manual Machinist in Pasadena, TX to set up and operate a range of machine tools including HBM, VBM, lathes, mills, grinders, planers and borers to manufacture and recondition parts to spec.

The ideal candidate will interpret drawings and GD&T, measure with precision instruments, and design setups. A machinist apprenticeship or equivalent training plus 4 years of shop experience, and willingness to work overtime are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of a machinist apprentice program or equivalent training.
• Ability to hold close tolerances and conduct component inspections.
• Reads and interprets drawings including GD&T and performs layouts.
• 4 years experience in machine shop operations with listed equipment.
• Willingness to work overtime and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Performs layouts, sets up, and operates conventional machine tools.
• Reads and interprets all drawings, including GD&T.
• Designs setups and methods where none exist.
• Instructs other shop personnel in machining techniques.
• Continually improving methods to deliver higher quality with improved costs.

Join our global team to grow your expertise and develop innovative solutions that enable a prosperous and more sustainable society.# About the roleJob Summary Sets up and operates machine tools, including HBM, VBM, lathes, milling machines, ID/OD grinders, planers, and bore, without assistance, following department policy and procedures manual, to manufacture and recondition component parts to customer, OEM and industry standards. Interprets mechanical drawings, blueprints, and sketches and performs precision metal cutting, grinding, shaping and fitting. Measures components, parts, and raw materials with precision measuring instruments, gauges, and tools.
