Job summary

EthosEnergy Power Solutions, LLC in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to produce precision components and support production for our Light Turbines unit. You will read blueprints, set up and run manual lathes, mills, and grinders, and ensure parts meet tight tolerances with careful tool maintenance.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in close-tolerance machining, stands for long periods, and can work independently or with a team to support shop operations and quality goals.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience with close tolerances on manual lathes, grinders and mills.

Responsibilities

• Machine precision parts to specifications using lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other manual or advanced machine tools.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sample parts, and engineering information to determine machining methods, sequences, dimensions, and tolerances.
• Set up, adjust, and operate machine tools; monitor feed, speed, and performance throughout the machining process.
• Measure, inspect, and test completed parts using precision instruments to verify quality and conformance to specifications.
• Lay out, measure, and mark metal stock for required cuts and machining operations.
• Select appropriate tools, machines, materials, fixtures, and tooling to support production and special engineering needs.
• Program and operate numerically controlled machine tools and related electronic instruments as needed.
• Support fabrication projects from planning through assembly, inspection, and testing.
• Maintain tool inventory and perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and basic maintenance on machines, tools, and equipment.
• Collaborate with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing teams to share technical information and support shop efficiency.
• Hold tolerances at or below .005”.
• Complete other duties as assigned by supervisors or management.

Job description

Join EthosEnergy’s growing Engine Repair Operations (ERO) team in Houston, TX, as a Manual Machinist supporting our Light Turbines business unit. In this hands‑on role, you will use your machining expertise to produce high‑quality precision components, support production operations, and help keep critical equipment and tooling running efficiently. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this position is ideal for an experienced machinist with at least 5 years of experience working with close tolerances on manual lathes, grinders, and mills, along with basic routine machine and tool maintenance.

Job Responsibilities

• Machine precision parts to specifications using lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other manual or advanced machine tools.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sample parts, and engineering information to determine machining methods, sequences, dimensions, and tolerances.

Required Skills / Knowledge

• Ability to read and interpret engineering and manufacturing drawings.
• Strong hands‑on experience with manual machines, including horizontal lathes, vertical milling machines, and surface grinders.
• Skilled in using precision tools, gauges, micrometers, and indicators to inspect and verify work.
• Capable of machining to tight tolerances below .0005 inches.
• Able to safely operate powered hand tools and perform routine preventative maintenance on machines and tools.
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
• General understanding of gas turbines, gearboxes, centrifugal compressors, or similar rotating equipment.

Experience

• Must have minimum of 5 years’ experience working with close tolerances on manual lathes, grinders and mills and performing basic routine maintenance on machines & tools.

Education Requirements

• Must have High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements

• Able to stand for long periods of time and lift to 30lbs
