Job description

Our EthosEnergy Aerospace & Defense division is seeking a manually trained Machinist for an FAA regulated workshop located in East Windsor, CT. This position is available on a 1st or 2nd shift basis and is responsible for the set up and operation of surface grinding machines. This critical position will work with a team of engineers and production personnel to resolve issues for our clients from commercial, business and military markets. Successful candidates must be professional, passionate and able to pass a lab-based drug screen and occupational health exam as per federally regulated aerospace and aviation guidelines. This is an excellent opportunity for career growth, and exposure to the manufacturing field for a person with traditional machining experience. Minimum qualifications require 2 years of manual machine shop training and/or lathe machining work history in the manufacturing setting.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform quality work on conventional operated surface grinding machines
  • Use of measuring and test equipment to ensure all dimensional requirements are met
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines
  • Work from and follow blueprints, diagrams, & written process instructions
  • Lead inspection and document machinery for any needed repairs
  • Make minor repairs on machinery as needed
  • Any other duties as required by the Company
Required Skills / Knowledge
  • Must be safety conscious and have the ability to adhere to important HSE policies
  • Familiarity with MS Office, Word, and Excel
  • Shop mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Strong command of the English language verbally and in writing
  • Machine and measure to close tolerances (.0002”) as required
  • Interpret complex blueprint specifications, charts, and follow work orders and engineering instructions as necessary
  • Once trained, interpret engineering drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5
Experience
  • 2 - 4 years’ experience manual machining on shop machines
Education Requirements
  • Vocational high school or technical school education in machining and machining practices (Certificate of completion required)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Good dexterity (grip, grasp, clutch)
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to sit/stand for up to 8 hours a day
  • FAA & DOT regulated work environment. Must be able to pass required background and drug test.
