Position Summary:
As a Manual Machinist, you will use manual machine tools to create or repair precision metal parts. This includes setting up and operating machines, reading blueprints, and ensuring parts meet specifications.
Responsibilities also include maintenance, troubleshooting, and adhering to safety protocols. You will conduct in-process inspections, dismantle set-ups, and return tools to proper locations upon completion. Report discrepancies of blueprint dimensions to the Pump Shop Manager.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years in manual machining
- Strong knowledge of reading drawings and specifications, with an intermediate understanding of geometric tolerance and dimensions
- Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts, and other accessories used on various machines
- Ability and willingness to train others in measurement, tooling, and problem solving
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Effective communication skills in English (both written & oral)
- Adaptability to a changing work environment and dealing with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
- Willingness to work extended hours as necessary
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, geometry, and algebra for material calculations
- Keen eye for detail and ability to produce high-quality work
- Ability to lift 35 lbs
- CNC Machining experience is a plus
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Communicate effectively with team members, management, and engineering
- Under supervision, produce quality parts on manual machines
- Load parts, operate controls, perform simple edits, deburring, and inspect parts for conformance
- Ensure machines are properly set up and adjusted, including tool alignment and workpiece securing
- Perform turning, milling, drilling, shaping, and grinding to precise specifications
- Verify finished parts meet tolerances using precision measuring instruments
- Interpret drawings, manuals, specifications, and sample parts to determine dimensions and setup requirements
- Measure and mark dimensions on materials or workpieces
- Read blueprints and sketches to determine operations and dimensions
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area and perform basic preventive maintenance
- Comply with legal, company, safety, and environmental regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
