Job Description

Direct Hire Manual Machinist position – Northwest Houston

We are seeking a Machinist to work for our client in the Northwest Houston area. Our client is a leading valve manufacturing company serving the petrochemical industry with high quality components.

Manual Machinist Position Overview:

The ideal candidate will have expertise in operating VTLs or HBMs and be proficient in machining valve components from various materials, including stainless steel alloys, chrome, alloy 20, Monel, Inconel, Hastelloy, and A105/LF2.

Machinist Responsibilities:
  • The Horizontal boring mill Machinist will be responsible for operating, setting up, and manual HBM mills. The VTL Machinist will operate Vertical Turning Lathes (VTL), which orient the spindle vertically, with the workpiece spinning and moving up and down for cutting.
  • All roles require strong blueprint reading skills, proficiency in program editing, and a comprehensive understanding of machine settings.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for machining operations.
  • Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, and other instruments to ensure components meet tight tolerances.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and perform routine maintenance on machines.
Machinist Qualifications:
  • Proven experience of 3+ years as a Machinist, preferably in a manufacturing environment related to the petrochemical industry.
  • Proficiency in operating manual engine lathes, Horizontal Boring Mills, and Vertical Turret Lathes.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, including cutting speeds, feeds, and tool selection.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with materials such as stainless steel alloys, chrome, alloy 20, Monel, Inconel, Hastelloy, and A105/LF2.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Working Hours:

This is a full-time position with 40+ hour work weeks. Typical hours are 7:30AM to 4:30PM.
