Job summary

Custom Machine LLC is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to join our manufacturing team on 1st shift. The candidate will operate manual engine lathes, Bridgeport mills, and ProtoTRAK CNC lathes to produce precision components from engineering drawings. The role requires independent setup and execution with attention to detail.

The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience with precision machining, can interpret drawings and GD&T, and maintains quality while meeting production targets.

Qualifications

• Experience as a manual machinist or equivalent machining role.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Experience operating manual lathes, Bridgeport mills, and ProtoTRAK CNC lathes.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual engine lathes, Bridgeport mills, and ProtoTRAK CNC lathes.
• Machine close‑tolerance components from a variety of metals and materials.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, work instructions, and machining specifications.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, drills, reamers, boring tools, and workholding.
• Calculate and adjust speeds, feeds, depths of cut, and tooling parameters.
• Perform manual turning, facing, boring, threading, grooving, drilling, and related lathe operations.
• Perform milling, drilling, tapping, reaming, boring, slotting, and other operations on Bridgeport‑style mills.
• Create and edit basic ProtoTRAK conversational programs and offsets.
• Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gauges, bore gauges.
