Job summary

Randstad USA is seeking a Manual Lathe Machinist/Precision Grinder in Marietta, GA to join our client's elite machining team. You will interpret blueprints, set up machines, and perform precision grinding to tight tolerances.

The role requires high school education and about 5 years of experience in machining, including use of micrometers, calipers, CMMs, and wheel dressing. Typical hours are 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with first shift and a salary range of $62,400 to $68,640 per year.

Qualifications

• Blueprints interpretation and reading engineering drawings for grinding parameters.
• Use micrometers, calipers, dial indicators and CMMs for precise verification.
• Operate manual or CNC grinding machines (surface/cylindrical/jig/centerless).
• Set up and dress grinding wheels; maintain surface integrity and prevent burns.

Responsibilities

• Machine Setup: Interpret complex blueprints to determine grinding speeds, feeds, and tooling.
• Operate manual or CNC grinding machines including various grinder types.
• Quality Control: verify dimensions with high-precision instruments.
• Wheel Maintenance: select, mount, and dress grinding wheels.

Our client doesn't just make parts; they engineer the critical components that keep things moving. We are looking for a dedicated Manual Lathe Machinist/Precision Grinder to join our client's elite machining team.

salary: $62,400 - $68,640 per year

Responsibilities

• Machine Setup: Interpret complex blueprints and engineering drawings to determine grinding speeds, feed rates, and tooling requirements.
• Operation: Operate manual or CNC (Computer Numerical Control) grinding machines, including surface, cylindrical, jig, or centerless grinders.
• Quality Control: Use high-precision measuring instruments—such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines)—to verify dimensions.
• Wheel Maintenance: Select, mount, and "dress" (sharpen/reshape) grinding wheels to ensure surface integrity and prevent "burns" on the workpiece.
• Troubleshooting: Monitor machine performance and adjust offsets or coolant flow to maintain the thermal stability of the part.
• Designs, builds, rebuilds and repairs the specialized tools, jigs, fixtures, dies, and moldsthat are essential for manufacturing parts.
• Set up and operate manual machining equipment (lathe, mill, drill press, etc.)

The essential functions of this role include:

• wearing steel toe shoes
• working in a non-temperature controlled environment
• manual lifting up to 50lbs
• standing for 8 hours at one time
• working up to 5 hrs of overtime per week
