Job summary

RIM Recruitment Professionals seeks an experienced Manual Bridge Mill Machinist / Gantry Mill Machinist to set up and operate large-format bridge mills, performing precision milling and boring on heavy structural components. You will read complex blueprints, GD&T, and inspect parts with precision tools while managing overhead crane operations.

Full-time position with 6a-4p or 7a-5p shifts and optional Saturday overtime.

Job description

Manual Bridge Mill Machinist Position Overview

We seek an experienced Manual Bridge Mill Machinist / Gantry Mill Machinist to set up and operate large-format bridge mills, perform precision milling and boring on heavy structural components, manage complex boring tasks, and maintain tight tolerances. Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual bridge mills for structural components, weldments, and large castings
• Perform precision milling and boring operations to tight specifications on large workpieces
• Read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T specifications
• Conduct in-process and final inspections using precision measuring tools
• Operate overhead cranes and rigging equipment for component positioning and loading
• Optimize speeds and feeds for large-part operations
• Design and implement custom fixturing solutions
• Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot feed and spindle systems
• Expand your machining repertoire beyond standard repetitive cycles

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year operating bridge or large-format mills
• Proficiency with structural components, weldments, and large castings
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators, depth gauges)
• Experience with overhead crane and rigging operations
• Knowledge of structural steel, cast iron, and aluminum tooling plate

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications in machining or precision measurement
• Specific machine brand or control system experience
• Familiarity with laser alignment tools and advanced measurement techniques
• Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting background

Position Details

Full-time | $30-$33/hour (based on experience) 6a-4 p or 7a-5p shift options. Optional Sat overtime 7a-12 p.M.
