Job summary

Fuku in San Francisco is seeking an AI Algorithm Engineer to advance LLM/VLM systems, agentic AI, and multimodal foundations. 3–5+ years of industry experience and a Master’s degree are required; Mandarin communication is essential for cross‑team collaboration with China.

You will help build production AI capabilities across text, image, video, and audio, shaping content understanding, governance, and user experiences at scale.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or above in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Mathematics, or related disciplines.
• Approximately 3–5+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong understanding of Large Language Models, Vision Language Models, Multimodal Foundation Models, Agentic AI.
• Hands‑on experience with Prompt Engineering, Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG), Agent evaluation frameworks, Model evaluation.
• Experience with modern Agent architectures: ReAct, PlanAct, CodeAct, Multi‑Agent Systems, Context Engineering, Function Calling, MCP, A2A.
• Familiarity with SFT, RLHF / RL, Post‑Training, Reward Models, CodeRL or similar RL infra.
• Strong engineering skills to translate research ideas into production AI systems.
• Mandarin communication skills due to collaboration with teams in China.

Responsibilities

• Foundation Models & Multimodal AI: Develop production AI systems based on LLMs, VLMs, and multimodal models; design algorithms for text, image, video, and audio signals; enable scalable multimodal content understanding and reasoning.
• Agentic AI: Design production-grade agent systems including ReAct/PlanAct/CodeAct, tool use, multi-agent orchestration, memory management, and productionize agents for real-world impact.
• Foundation Model Training: Participate in pre-training, SFT, RL, and post-training; improve reasoning and multimodal capabilities; design evaluation methodologies and reward models.
• Applied AI Research: Evaluate frontier AI developments; translate research into scalable production; contribute to architectural decisions and potential publications.
