Job summary

Grace Christian Church in Herndon, VA seeks an Assistant Pastor for the Chinese Ministry to lead and shepherd the Mandarin-speaking congregation. The role collaborates with the Senior Pastor and Session to cast vision, plan ministries, and expand outreach while teaching God’s Word and serving in pulpit leadership.

The ideal candidate holds an M.Div. and is ordained or willing to pursue PCA ordination, with strong expository preaching and cross-cultural team skills.

Qualifications

• M.Div. degree (or equivalent) from an accredited seminary.
• Fluent in Mandarin; able to communicate in English.
• Clear calling to pastoral ministry and shepherding with Christ-like leadership.
• Proven expository preaching and teaching of God’s Word.
• Willing to work in a multicultural staff environment with humility.
• Prior shepherding or church ministry experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all age groups.

Responsibilities

• Assist Senior Pastor and Session in vision casting and ministry planning for the Chinese congregation.
• Faithfully teach the Word of God, fill the pulpit as needed, and teach Sunday School and Bible studies.
• Shepherd the Chinese congregation through fellowship, small groups, discipleship, visits, and in-person care.
• Broaden GCC’s outreach ministry in local Chinese communities by organizing fellowship groups for seekers and new believers.
• Minister to young adults and young professionals through fellowship and outreach activities.
• Participate in church government alongside elders and deacons.
