Job summary

Linguava seeks on-site interpreters in Eugene, Oregon, to provide healthcare interpretation and on-demand sight translation for patients and families. You will work as an independent contractor at various facilities, following Linguava protocols and ensuring accurate communication.

Candidates must be fluent in English and Mandarin, pass a language evaluation, and have reliable transportation. A high school diploma is required; hospital/medical interpretation experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Certified or Qualified Healthcare Interpreter through the State Of Oregon (OHA).
• Linguava assists with qualification for eligible candidates.
• Located in Eugene/Springfield or surrounding areas.
• Demonstrate native or near-native fluency in both English and Mandarin.
• Pass Linguava’s Language Evaluation and skills test.
• Reliable transportation (daily travel required).
• Excellent listening, communication, organizational and customer service skills.
• Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Interpret for individuals and/or families who don’t speak English at in-person medical appointments (hospital admissions, discharges, clinics, surgeries, diagnostics, schools, ER visits).
• Follow all Linguava and client protocols; educate patients, families, and providers on interpreter role; check-in/out on time; stay for full scheduled duration.
• Manage an organized schedule and ensure no appointments are missed or double booked.
