Job summary

Yu Ming Charter School in Oakland, CA seeks a Grade 5 Mandarin Immersion Teacher and Instructional Coach to lead Mandarin language arts, mathematics, and SEL in a Mandarin immersion setting while coaching peers.

The hybrid role is 60% teaching and 40% coaching, reporting to the Principal, working with the Director of Academics to support instruction and teacher growth. Requires CA credential and Mandarin-English bilingual proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Master’s Degree preferred.
• Valid California Teaching Credential required.
• Minimum of 5 years of full-time teaching in Mandarin immersion.
• Experience with instructional coaching.
• Demonstrated success improving student learning outcomes, especially for diverse learners.
• Bilingual in Mandarin and English.

Responsibilities

• Develop CCSS-aligned units for Mandarin immersion and core subjects.
• Personalize learning for diverse students and ensure mastery.
• Assess student achievement and tailor instruction based on data.
• Use educational technology to organize materials and track progress.
• Collaborate with colleagues and contribute pedagogical knowledge.
• Provide instructional coaching using Yu Ming Core 3 framework.
• Plan and deliver professional development for staff.
