Managing Technical Consultant, Archaeologist (Senior Level)

Join to apply for the Managing Technical Consultant, Archaeologist (Senior Level) role at ERM.

Overview

ERM is seeking a highly motivated Managing Technical Consultant, Archaeologist to join our global consulting firm as part of our Cultural Resources Services team. This full-time, salaried position can be based from a local ERM office or fully remote. Preference is given to candidates located in Austin, Dallas, Houston, or New Orleans, with familiarity with regional regulatory processes (federal, state, municipal). Demonstrated regional consulting experience is required. The successful candidate will provide technical assistance to clients across the U.S. and focus on project needs and business development within their region.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee archaeological studies, including literature review, field reconnaissance, surveys, and excavation.
  • Support ERM’s business growth in archaeology and cultural heritage through technical consulting.
  • Collaborate with other ERM practice areas and represent ERM with agencies and clients.
  • Manage subcontractors, prepare proposals, and oversee project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage performance of the technical team.
  • Expand ERM’s market share through technical excellence and business development.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams and interact with regulatory agencies and online databases.
  • Conduct research, write technical reports, and potentially perform fieldwork.
Minimum Requirements
  • Graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field plus 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Registered Professional Archaeologist and ability to obtain permits.
  • Experience with inventory, survey, testing, or data recovery; authored agency-reviewed reports.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and proficiency in permitting regulations.
  • Business development skills and ability to manage client relationships.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the U.S.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with energy projects, laboratory processing, supervising personnel, and strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and resourcefulness.
