The Corporate Bookmaking Team is seeking a Managing Editorial Assistant to support the Penguin Workshop Managing Editorial team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for children's books, be detail-oriented, eager to collaborate across departments, and adaptable to a fast-paced, high-volume, creative environment.

Penguin Workshop publishes a range of children's books, including New York Times bestsellers, beloved characters, and licensed properties, in formats such as picture books, middle grade, young adult, and graphic novels.

Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Managing Editorial department, including scheduling, report generation, and calendar management.
  • Manage title metadata and schedules using SAP and FileMaker Pro.
  • Approve covers for distribution.
  • Disseminate updates on production schedules, on-sale dates, and prices.
  • Coordinate reprint corrections and ensure accuracy.
  • Create barcodes.
  • Review eBooks for formatting, content accuracy, and quality.
  • Review contract statuses and royalty rates.
  • Download and organize files for various divisional needs.
  • Participate in weekly production meetings with relevant departments.
Qualifications
  • At least 6 months of publishing experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
