Company Overview

Our client is a national leader in technology staffing, known for delivering agile, scalable solutions across SMB and enterprise clients. From cloud infrastructure and data analytics to agile development and product recruitment, they help organizations solve complex talent challenges across the tech ecosystem.

As part of their continued growth, they are launching a New York City office and seeking a Managing Director to lead this strategic expansion. This is a high-impact leadership role with P&L ownership, team-building responsibilities, and a path to equity.

The Opportunity

As Managing Director, you will be responsible for building and scaling the firm’s contract Technology Staffing practice in NYC. While you'll have access to an established national client base and operational support, this is a true ground-up market launch opportunity in the Northeast.

You’ll be a producing leader, balancing hands-on client engagement with strategic oversight. The role will evolve into a broader leadership position as you scale the team, with full autonomy over hiring, culture, and P&L performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and lead the NYC-based Technology Staffing practice, focused on contract recruitment across Agile, Data, Cloud, DevOps, and Digital Transformation verticals
  • Run a full desk: originate new business, manage client relationships, and oversee delivery
  • Develop and implement strategic growth plans for the region
  • Hire, coach, and lead a team of 7–10 recruiters within the first 24 months
  • Partner closely with national leadership on performance, KPIs, and market expansion
  • Deliver high-quality, fast-turnaround talent solutions for enterprise clients
  • Manage operational performance including budget, headcount, and profitability
  • Participate in equity incentives tied to the success and growth of the NYC operation

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 10+ years in contract technology staffing, with experience placing consultants in roles such as Agile Coaches, Cloud Engineers, Data Analysts, DevOps Architects, and Digital Program Managers
  • Demonstrated ability to build and scale high-performing recruitment teams
  • Strong commercial instincts, with proven success in client development and solution selling
  • Deep understanding of the NYC technology market and enterprise client needs
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with experience launching or significantly growing a practice or region
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
  • Prior P&L responsibility and exposure to performance metrics strongly preferred
