Job summary

Penta Group is seeking a Managing Director to join our Washington, D.C. office. The role leads strategy, drives innovation, and sets the standard for client service across multiple teams.

Ideal candidates have 12–16 years in public affairs, crisis communications, litigation communications, or campaign management with demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities include client retention, strategy development, team management, and overseeing bespoke public affairs work

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
• Extensive leadership experience in public affairs, crisis comms, or campaigns.
• Proven ability to manage multiple teams and client relationships.
• Experience guiding strategy, problem solving, and stakeholder engagement.
• Comfort with AI and emerging technologies to enhance efficiency and impact.
• Strong written and verbal communication in high pressure environments.

Responsibilities

• Set strategy, drive innovation, and uphold high client service standards across teams.
• Lead client retention, project success, and strategic execution for engagements.
• Manage directors and teams, providing coaching and feedback.
• Oversee bespoke public affairs strategies, including stakeholder mapping and media relations.
• Develop strong internal and external relationships and lead organizational priorities.
