Job summary

Whitley Penn in Houston seeks a Forensic & Litigation Services Managing Director for the Commercial & Intellectual Property Disputes group. The role directs client assignments, coordinates with management and outside counsel, and ensures high-level client service.

The MD leads strategy, reviews staff work, and ensures timely, accurate deliverables. Ideal candidates have a CPA and 9+ years’ leadership experience in accounting/finance within a consulting setting, with expertise in damages

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or economics; advanced degree a plus.
• CPA license preferred and/or other suitable professional credentials.
• 9+ years of progressive experience in accounting and/or finance culminating into a leadership role.
• Broad background in litigation/expert services and calculation of damages.
• Proficiency in MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Calculate economic damages in patent, trademark, copyright, misappropriation, breach of contract, and related matters.
• Make strategic recommendations based on analysis of details and risks.
• Review documents and ensure relevant facts are provided to the expert witness.
• Attend client meetings to determine scope of engagement and expectations.
• Review and provide feedback on staff work to ensure timely completion.
• Ensure schedules and financial information are accurate and well-presented.
• Prepare the testifying expert and assemble supporting documents for deposition and trial.
• Manage engagements to meet deadlines and deliverables.
• Develop testifying material outlines and demonstratives for trial.
• Initiate business development and build internal/external networks.
• Participate in marketing events, training, and recruiting efforts.
• Lead departmental training for associates and foster continuous improvement.
• Help recruit and develop training materials for professional development.
• Assist with administrative functions and management of the FLS department.
