Job summary

RSM US LLP is seeking a Managing Director in the Washington National Tax team with strong exempt organization tax advisory experience. The role focuses on lead client relationships, complex tax matters, and strategic growth for public charities, foundations, and other exempt entities.

You will provide high-value tax advice on governance, Form 990 reporting, unrelated business income, and international activities, while guiding teams and contributing to thought leadership and education efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• CPA license, Enrolled Agent license, Attorney license or approved alternative certification.
• Minimum of twelve years of tax experience in public accounting for middle-market clients.
• Deep understanding of federal tax rules for exempt organizations.
• Strong project management and client service capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage client relationships for complex engagements and expand services.
• Drive growth and profitability through new revenue and cross-selling.
• Explain complex tax concepts clearly to clients and teams.
• Build cross-functional relationships to deliver integrated service.
• Serve as a national technical resource for exempt entities.
• Provide guidance on exempt organization governance and compliance matters.
• Analyze IRS regulations and prepare practical implications for clients and staff.
• Assist with formation, restructuring, or dissolution of exempt entities.
• Represent exempt organizations before the IRS for rulings and examinations.
• Draft thought leadership and internal training materials.
• Maintain technical competency through ongoing education and industry updates.
• Support marketing and business development activities; travel as needed.
