AMJ is a trusted open-access platform connecting healthcare professionals (HCPs) and pharmaceutical partners, providing cutting-edge content and thought leadership. The MD will not only oversee day-to-day operations but will be instrumental in achieving ambitious growth targets, building on AMJ’s strong foundation and global reputation.

Be one of the founding members of a company set for significant growth over the next few years. You will have the opportunity to be part of our company from the ground-up, able to influence and impact the company approach whilst we scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and Manage the Team - Provide day-to-day leadership across editorial, commercial, and operational teams, ensuring clear accountability, strong performance, and effective collaboration.
  • Strengthen Commercial Delivery - Support the commercial team in delivering revenue targets by maintaining strong client relationships, driving repeat business, and ensuring consistently high client satisfaction.
  • Oversee Business Operations - Ensure the smooth and efficient running of the business, embedding established processes, improving operational discipline, and maintaining high standards of delivery.
  • Maintain Content Quality and Delivery - Safeguard AMJ’s reputation by ensuring all journals and content are delivered on time and to industry-leading editorial standards.

  • Build Organisational Capability - Develop team capability, strengthen management structures, and ensure teams are aligned with the company’s operating model and objectives.
  • Identify Future Strategic Opportunities - Once operational stability and performance are embedded, work with the CEO to identify and evaluate future growth opportunities, partnerships, and market expansion initiatives.
What We Look For
  • Proven senior leadership experience, ideally at Managing Director, General Manager, or equivalent level, with accountability for operational and commercial performance.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience delivering revenue targets and managing existing revenue streams within established business models.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, ensuring clear accountability, strong management practices, and consistent delivery against business objectives.
  • Strong operational leadership capability, with experience implementing strategy, embedding processes, and driving execution across multiple functions.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work closely with senior leadership and align teams around agreed priorities.
  • Delivery-focused and pragmatic, with the ability to translate plans into action and ensure initiatives are executed effectively.
  • A hands-on, tactical leader who leads by example, comfortable operating close to the detail while maintaining awareness of longer-term strategic direction.
  • Ambitious and growth-oriented, with the potential to contribute to future strategic development once operational performance and stability are embedded.
  • Background in publishing, healthcare, life sciences, or adjacent industries preferred.
