ERM’s Transaction Advisory team is seeking a Managing Consultant, Due Diligence (EHS/ESG) based in Houston, Austin, Baton Rouge, or New Orleans. You will lead due diligence and ESG engagements for private equity and corporate clients, delivering practical insights on EH&S risks and opportunities across industries.

You will advise on liabilities, build senior stakeholder relationships, and collaborate with ERM’s global experts to ensure high-quality advisory output in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, climate science, environmental science, geology, or related field.
  • At least four years of environmental consulting experience, particularly in due diligence.
  • Solid understanding of ASTM Phase I standards and transaction-related concepts.
  • Familiar with environmental regulations; experience across oil/gas, manufacturing, chemicals, infrastructure.
  • Strong communication, organization, and technical report-writing skills; travel as needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; note: visa sponsorship not provided.

Why This Role Is Important

ERM’s Transaction Advisory team is expanding rapidly and supports a strong portfolio of clients, including Fortune 500 companies, private equity firms, and multinational organizations. In the role of Managing Consultant, Due Diligence (EHS/ESG), based in Houston, Austin, Baton Rouge, or New Orleans, you would play a key role in delivering environmental, health, safety, and ESG due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and portfolio reviews. This position is central to helping clients manage complex sustainability-related risks while identifying strategic opportunities in a fast-moving market.

How You Will Contribute

You will lead medium- to large-scale due diligence and ESG advisory engagements for both private equity and corporate clients. The role involves providing practical, decision-oriented insights into environmental, health, safety, and social risks that can affect transactions and broader business strategies. You will advise clients on potential liabilities, exposures, and opportunities linked to deals across a variety of industries. In addition, you will build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and work closely with ERM’s global network of technical experts to deliver high-quality advisory support.

What You Will Bring

Candidates should have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, climate science, environmental science, geology, or a related field. The role requires at least four years of environmental consulting experience, particularly in due diligence projects. A solid understanding of ASTM Phase I standards, along with key business and legal concepts related to transactions, is essential. Applicants should also be familiar with environmental regulations and have experience across multiple sectors such as oil and gas, manufacturing, chemicals, or infrastructure. Strong communication, organization, and technical report-writing skills are important, as is the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced consulting environment, manage several projects at once, and travel when required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is expected. Please note that this position does not provide immigration sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional value would come from experience in ESG strategy advisory, climate-related risk assessment, and work involving private equity or financial sector transactions. Houston, Texas is the preferred location for this role.
