Job summary

The Mission is seeking a Managing Attorney to oversee the Legal Services department, counsel clients on legal issues, manage staff and supervise volunteers. The role operates Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with an estimated starting pay of $97,000 per year.

The Managing Attorney will provide direct representation, supervise legal staff, recruit volunteers, ensure compliance with professional conduct rules, and drive department budgeting and reporting.

Qualifications

• Licensed attorney with Juris Doctor degree and WSBA admission to practice law.
• Experience in professional legal practice preferred; family law or public service law highly preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel, referrals, and direct representation services to clients.
• Assist clients in court hearings and other legal proceedings, in person or via remote appearances.
• Conduct client intakes, including conflicts checks and licensing checks, and determine services/referrals.
• Maintain knowledge of ODLS practice areas and relevant court databases.
• Administer the ODLS file management system and improve ODLS processes.
• Manage and support direct report staff and supervise volunteers.
• Ensure adherence to Rules of Professional Conduct and confidentiality.
• Develop and manage department budget and goals, approve expenditures.
