Job summary

McCormick Taylor, Inc. is seeking a Water Resources Manager to lead the Water Resources Department in Charleston, SC. You will manage hydrologic/hydraulic design, SCDOT projects, and environmental permitting with a team of professionals.

The role requires a PE license in SC, a strong track record in project management, and excellent communication skills for client interaction and proposal development. Hybrid work arrangements are available along with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in water resources or civil engineering.
  • BS degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in South Carolina.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
  • Proficient in Microstation, OpenRoads, InRoads/ GEOPAK or AutoCAD/Civil3D.
  • Proficient in H&H Analysis Programs including at least 5: TR-20, HY-8, Flowmaster, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Flow2D, SWMM, PondPack, SRH-2D, SMS.
  • Experience with SCDOT and local municipalities.
  • Substantial project management experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, mentoring, and written communications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight of design projects and tasks for SCDOT, SC Office of Resilience, county, and municipalities.
  • Perform hydrologic/hydraulic design tasks, develop and refine 2D HECRAS or PCSWMM models and guide junior staff.
  • Manage bridge hydraulics, SWM, storm drain, sediment control and water quality design projects, including plans, permits, report content and cost estimates.
  • Perform field assessments and construction oversight independently.
  • Deliver quality projects on time and within budget.
  • Mentor project staff and support professional development.
  • Serve as primary contact for client relationships; assist with marketing and proposals.

Position Summary

McCormick Taylor has an immediate opening for a Water Resources Manager to join our growing Water Resources Department. We are looking for a dynamic professional capable of successfully managing water resources and environmental projects, encompassing services such as: SCDOT roadway drainage and bridge hydraulics design, watershed management, community and climate resilience, floodplain management, environmental permitting, compliance, stormwater management, stream restoration design, and MS4 support. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative team environment. We are seeking an individual who can handle multiple projects, meet deadlines and work well in a hybrid remote office environment. Strong written, interpersonal and oral communication skills, attention to detail and ability to organize is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field assessments and construction oversight independently
  • Deliver quality projects in accordance with accepted schedule and budget
  • Manage and mentor project staff
  • Serve as primary point of contact for existing client relationships
  • Assist with marketing activities including client/teaming research, proposal writing and preparation
Job Requirements
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of professional experience
  • BS degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineer, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in South Carolina
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite
