Job summary

Amerisure is seeking a Manager, Underwriting Assistants to join our team in a hybrid role (3 days in-office, 2 from home). The position focuses on guiding and developing an underwriting team across mid-market commercial lines, ensuring high-quality work and strong customer relationships.

The ideal candidate will have 5 years of underwriting experience, a leadership track record, and solid communication and analytical skills.

Qualifications

  • 5 years middle market commercial lines underwriting experience with thorough underwriting workflow and tasks.
  • 1 year leadership experience preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships within a department and across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, train, provide performance feedback and assign duties of direct reports to ensure productivity and efficiency.
  • Design and oversee Associate Underwriting development programs aligned with goals and quality standards.
  • Allocate resources and set priorities to ensure timely, within-budget project delivery.
  • Establish and maintain quality standards for learning programs with regular assessments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align objectives and improve communication.
  • Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability and drive operational excellence.

Position Summary

Due to a promotion, Amerisure is recruiting for a Manager, Underwriting Assistants to join our team! This role will be hybrid 3 days a week in the local office & 2 from home. Office locations include Atlanta GA, Charlotte NC, Chicago IL, Dallas TX, Farmington Hills MI, Indianapolis IN, Phoenix AZ or Tampa FL.

Responsibilities
  • Manage, train, provide performance feedback and assign duties of direct reports to ensure productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Design, implement, and oversee Associate Underwriting development program that aligns with organizational goals, ensuring they meet quality standards and objectives.
  • Evaluate team capabilities and project requirements to allocate resources and set priorities effectively, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards while fostering team development and productivity.
  • Establish and maintain quality standards for learning and development programs, conducting regular assessments and implementing improvements as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align on objectives, optimize resource sharing, and strengthen communication channels, driving cohesive initiatives across the organization.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and best practices to enhance program efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Establish and manage performance metrics, conducting regular data analysis to generate actionable insights and provide recommendations that support informed decision‑making.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to gather feedback, address concerns, and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Facilitate training and development opportunities for team members through coaching and mentoring, focusing on skill enhancement and career growth to prepare them for future opportunities within the organization.
Requirements
  • Associate degree or equivalent work‑related experience.
  • 5 years middle market commercial lines underwriting experience with thorough underwriting workflow and tasks.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external customers.
