Store Manager – Truck Stop Convenience Store

A Store Manager oversees the convenience store and food operations of a truck stop according to company policies and procedures to ensure maximum sales and profitability. He or She supervises personnel within the store and is responsible for daily operations, inventory, cash management, and customer service. The position is paid hourly and offers competitive compensation for the work performed.

Starting pay: $57,000 to $71,500 annually (based on a 50‑hour workweek) and may increase for advanced management experience. Bonuses and overtime pay are available.

Benefits: Health insurance begins within 90 days of start date. Other benefits include vacation pay, overtime pay over 40 hours, annual profit‑based bonus, and overtime pay for holiday work. Supervisors earn an additional 50¢ per hour between midnight and 6 a.m.

Primary Responsibilities

• Ensure successful operation of the company store.
• Perform all duties expected of a store associate and additional responsibilities as requested.
• Maintain inventory, manage cash shortages, and adhere to budgeted hours.
• Develop and maintain staffing schedules to maximize customer satisfaction and store cleanliness within budget.
• Complete all administrative duties accurately, promptly, and in accordance with corporate cash procedures.
• Manage customer relations, ensuring maximum customer satisfaction.
• Maintain store cleanliness and inform the general manager of major equipment problems.
• Enforce company policies, procedures, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
• Ensure store safety and regulatory compliance.
• Stock products, monitor gasoline inventories, and report discrepancies.
• Interview, select, hire, and train store personnel; conduct performance evaluations; counsel and discipline staff; terminate employees in conformance with policy.
• Attend manager meetings and mandatory training; conduct regular employee meetings.
• Communicate with management on important issues.

Additional Responsibilities

• Customer Service.
• Operate cash register and handle cash, lottery tickets, and cash cards.
• Complete shift reports.
• Clean windows, floors, bathrooms, and empty trash containers.
• Stock shelves and coolers.
• Sweep and mop floors.
• Check product inventory upon vendor delivery.
• Perform yard maintenance (sweeping, shoveling, painting, checking gas wells).
• Merchandise items.
• Other tasks assigned by management.
• Communicate with associates and guests.
• Read and write accurately for required paperwork.
• Wear required store uniform.
• Work weekend, evening shifts, and holidays.
• Maintain reliable transportation.
• Attend mandatory meetings (e.g., T.A.M., sexual harassment).

Physical Requirements

• Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting of 1 to 15 lb.
• Occasional lifting up to 50 lb.
• Reach above shoulder height and bend below waist.
• Access all store areas freely.
• Move quickly around store.
