Job summary

GXO is seeking a Manager, Transportation in Locust Grove, GA to oversee on-site operations for a key customer account. This full-time role on the 1st shift (Mon-Fri, 7:00am–3:00pm) focuses on P&L, performance metrics, driver coordination and safe, compliant service delivery.

The ideal candidate has at least 4 years in transportation, strong leadership and project management skills, solid communication, and the ability to travel occasionally. Bachelor’s degree preferred; CRM experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Maintain responsibility for the overall P&L to meet established budgets.

• Track operational performance, including on-time pickup and delivery, volume, and fleet balance.
• Ensure driver recruiting and retention meets established fleet size goals.
• Identify opportunities to increase performance, improve processes and implement solutions.
• Develop and modify operational policies to meet customer service requirements.
• Maintain a safe work environment and administer corrective action as required.
• Direct capital expenditure and asset deployment activities.

1st Shift,

Monday - Friday -7.00am - 3.00pm

As the Manager, Transportation, you will be responsible for the overall on-site management of a customer account, ensuring that compliance requirements and contractual obligations are met. You will also serve as the primary customer contact on all new initiatives and high-level critical issues. What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Maintain responsibility for the overall P&L to meet established budgets and forecasts
• Ensure the effectiveness of the operation’s communication, interaction and relationship with company drivers
• Oversee the management of tractor maintenance, compliance and service delivery
• Track operational performance, including on-time pickup and delivery, volume, equipment balance and empty miles
• Ensure driver recruiting and retention meets established fleet size goals
• Identify opportunities to increase performance, improve processes and find efficiencies, and coordinate with leaders to implement solutions
• Investigate and determine the root cause of all service failures; implement corrective actions whenever necessary
• Develop and modify operational policies and procedures to meet customer service requirements on both new and existing processes
• Maintain a safe work environment and foster a positive team dynamic, resolving employee relations issues and administering corrective action as required
• Ensure annual profit, efficiency and quality goals are attained at each client engagement
• Direct capital expenditure and asset deployment activities

What you need to succeed at GXO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

• 4 years of transportation experience
• In-depth knowledge of the supply chain/logistics industry
• Availability to travel occasionally

It’d be great if you also have:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Project management skills and experience
• Proven leadership and collaboration skills with experience effectively supervising, mentoring and influencing employees
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience as a collaborative, innovative and strategic thinker
• Solid customer relationship management skills

This job requires the ability to:

• Lift objects of various shapes, sizes and weights up to 25 lbs.
• Stand, sit or walk for extended periods of time
• Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel
