From your PASSION to ours

The Transportation Manager focuses on Carrier and Broker development and managing transportation providers for the United Businesses of America (UBA). Responsibilities include developing new carriers/brokers, evaluating pricing, capacity, and service (including formal RFPs). Rob will assume responsibility for these tasks.

From your EXPERTISE to ours

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing qualification standards for carriers and brokers.
• Researching and evaluating transportation companies for strategic fit within Lactalis.
• Analyzing carrier pricing and service to support onboarding and maintain competitiveness, including leading RFP processes across multiple modes of transport.
• Managing onboarding and offboarding of carriers, including contract vetting, rate organization, and system entry.
• Supporting carrier relationship management, transportation cost analysis, and KPI tracking.
• Monitoring transportation budgets, analyzing variances, and implementing corrective measures.
• Leading business reviews, gathering data, and providing feedback.
• Supporting cost-saving initiatives within logistics.
• Evaluating industry trends to identify opportunities and challenges.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The incumbent oversees the Transportation team, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and discipline, in accordance with company policies and laws.

Work Conditions

Requirements

Qualified applicants will contribute the following:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years related experience, 8+ preferred.
• Experience in transportation, rate negotiations, DOT regulations, route optimization, and refrigerated carriers.
• Experience in the food industry is a plus.

Certifications and Knowledge

• Knowledge of RateView and onboarding software systems.
• Transportation Management Systems knowledge is preferred.
• Experience in contract development and negotiation is preferred.

Competencies

• Excellent communication skills, analytical ability, proficiency in Microsoft Office, with Microsoft Access as a plus.
