The Manager in Training (MIT) position is a short-term transitional role that provides work assignments and training opportunities to prepare MITs for promotion into Retail/Commercial Store Management positions. Progression to a management role may occur within approximately 8-12 weeks, depending on prior experience and performance.

Responsibilities

An MIT is a member of the management team, expected to Live The Pledge, deliver WOW! Customer Service, and drive store performance. Under the supervision of the Store Manager, the MIT will lead by example to maintain an engaged, productive team. Responsibilities include:

• Overall store management, supervision, and policy implementation
• Financial management, including analyzing and reconciling monthly P&L statements
• Employee staffing, training, and development
• Inventory management
• Customer service leadership

MITs will complete operations and management training, learning about key business aspects and AutoZone culture. Satisfactory performance and progression are required to remain in the program and be considered for management openings.

Note: Promotion from MIT to Store Manager/Commercial Sales Manager is not guaranteed and depends on performance and available openings.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of retail management or supervisory experience
• Ability to work a flexible full-time schedule, including mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime
• Bilingual skills are a plus but not required
• Previous automotive experience is preferred but not required
• Experience analyzing financial statements, including Profit and Loss, is preferred but not required
