The Manager Trainee is responsible for learning the duties of the Store Manager position and developing the skills required for a Store Manager role. Primary duties include delivering a Legendary Customer Experience, building the team, driving sales, managing inventory, managing profit and sales, expense control, reducing and managing shrink.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
As a Manager Trainee, you will observe and learn the following duties and skills required for a Store Manager role:
- Recruit, hire, develop, evaluate, discipline, and retain efficient team members.
- Deliver Legendary Customer Service through GURA:
- Greet the Customer.
- Uncover Customer Needs & Wants.
- Recommend Product Solutions.
- Ask to Add Value & Appreciate the Customer.
- Create and foster a welcoming environment and a sense of belonging in the store, ensuring diversity, equity, and inclusion are experienced daily across our team members, customers, suppliers, and communities. Ensure team members mirror the communities the store serves and foster an engaging experience for both team members and customers.
- Schedule, organize, and plan daily activities for team members to ensure efficient store operations.
- Lead team members to ensure the customer has a Legendary shopping experience that differentiates from the competition.
- Communicate company processes, policies, and directives to team members, evaluate their effectiveness, and coordinate with District or Regional Managers to resolve issues.
- Learn to create a desirable work environment through promotions, recognition, and empowerment.
- Handle problem solving and conflict resolution for team members and customers.
- Learn sales and profit management, aiming to achieve top and bottom-line results.
- Promote a safe and productive work environment.
- Manage daily merchandise flow to ensure adequate stock and inventory controls.
- Learn the process of organizing merchandise resets to company standards periodically.
- Implement and sustain merchandise presentation standards.
- Evaluate the competitive environment and work with Operations and Merchandising teams to ensure quality and performance.
- PAPERWORK: Train on processing invoices, schedules, product orders, returns, POs reports, sales forecasting, payroll analysis, and budget review. Document team member evaluations and corrective actions.
- INVENTORY: Manage periodic price changes, communicate inventory needs to buyers and distribution centers, and collaborate to solve inventory issues.
- SPECIAL PROJECTS: Coordinate and conduct special sales events, assist in district issues, support operational needs, and engage in community involvement.
- TEAM MEMBER RELATIONS: Reinforce the company's mission and values, address team member issues, and assess and develop team members for advancement.
- BUDGET/AUDITING: Be responsible for budgeting, sales forecasting, and auditing store processes.
Required Qualifications
Experience: Retail, farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is preferred. Supervisory experience is a plus. Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license.
Education: High school diploma; Bachelor’s in Agricultural Science or Business is preferred. Equivalent education and experience will be considered.
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
- Valid driver’s license if driving for company business.
- Proficiency in processing information and merchandise through POS systems.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic math for documentation.
- Access to all store areas, including selling floor, stock area, and register.
- Operate store equipment such as dollies, hand-trucks, forklifts, computers, and cash registers.
- Move merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Work varied hours, including nights, weekends, and peak seasons, with a minimum of 52 hours per week.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Travel to other store locations and company events.

- Normal office environment.
Physical Requirements
- Standing, walking, reaching overhead, driving, lifting up to 50 lbs.
