The Manager in Training (MIT) position is a short-term transitional role that provides work assignments and training opportunities to prepare MITs for promotion into Retail/Commercial Store Management positions. Progression to management typically occurs within 8-12 weeks, depending on prior experience and performance.

Responsibilities

As a member of the management team, an MIT is expected to:

• Live The Pledge, deliver WOW! Customer Service, and drive store performance
• Support the Store Manager in overall store operations, including:

• Retail and commercial management, supervision, and policy implementation
• Financial management, including analyzing and reconciling monthly P&L statements
• Employee staffing, training, and development
• Inventory management
• Customer service leadership

MITs must complete operations and management training, learn about AutoZone culture, and demonstrate consistent progression to remain in the program and be considered for management roles. Promotion depends on performance and management openings.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of retail management or supervisory experience
• Ability to work a flexible full-time schedule, including mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime
• Bilingual skills are a plus but not required
• Automotive experience and financial analysis skills are preferred but not mandatory
