Hertz Local Edition in New Haven, CT is seeking a Manager Trainee to join our branch team. In this hands-on role, you’ll learn to run a successful rental location while delivering outstanding customer experiences and supporting daily operations.

Through structured training, you’ll build core leadership skills and sales know-how, with a clear path to promotion to Branch Manager in 12–18 months. This on-site position requires flexibility and a customer-focused mindset.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 20 years old.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Customer service, sales, retail or hospitality experience preferred.
• Strong communication, computer, multitasking and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Learn the rental car business through hands-on training in sales, customer service, operations, fleet logistics, and administration.
• Support branch sales goals by building customer relationships and identifying needs.
• Deliver a positive customer experience by guiding customers through the rental process.
• Assist with daily branch operations including fleet inventory, vehicle prep, and documentation.
• Partner with leadership to understand scheduling, team communication and performance metrics.
• Develop skills to grow into future leadership opportunities within Hertz.

What You’ll Do

• Learn the rental car business through hands‑on training in sales, customer service, operations, fleet logistics, and administration.

• Assist with daily branch operations, including fleet inventory, vehicle preparation, lot organization, documentation, and compliance tasks.
• Partner with branch leadership to understand scheduling, team communication, performance coaching, and business metrics.
• Build the skills needed to grow into future leadership opportunities within Hertz.

What We’re Looking For

• Must be at least 20 years old
• Valid driver’s license required
• Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Customer service, sales, retail, hospitality, or other professional experience preferred
• Strong communication, computer, multitasking, and time management skills
• A self‑motivated, adaptable approach with an interest in learning the business and growing into leadership
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, customer‑facing environment
