The Manager in Training (MIT) position is a short-term transitional role that provides work assignments and training to prepare MITs for promotion into Retail/Commercial Store Management positions. Entry into the AutoZone MIT program may lead to management positions within approximately 8-12 weeks, depending on prior experience and performance.
An MIT is part of the management team, expected to Live The Pledge, deliver WOW! Customer Service, and drive store performance. Under the Store Manager's supervision, the MIT maintains an engaged, productive team through leadership and initiative. Responsibilities include:
MITs must complete operational and management training, learn about key business aspects and AutoZone culture, and demonstrate progression to remain in the pipeline for management openings. Promotion to Store Manager or Commercial Sales Manager is not guaranteed and depends on performance and availability.
