The Manager in Training (MIT) position is a short-term transitional role that provides work assignments and training to prepare MITs for promotion into Retail/Commercial Store Management positions. Progression to management typically occurs within 8-12 weeks, depending on experience and performance.

Responsibilities

As a member of the management team, an MIT is expected to:

• Live The Pledge, deliver WOW! Customer Service, and drive store performance
• Support overall store operations, including management, supervision, and policy implementation
• Manage financials, analyze and reconcile monthly P&L statements
• Oversee employee staffing, training, and development
• Manage inventory and lead customer service initiatives

MITs are responsible for completing training in operations and management skills, understanding AutoZone culture, and demonstrating performance progression to remain in the program and be considered for management roles.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of retail management or supervisory experience
• Flexible full-time schedule, including mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime
• Bilingual skills are preferred but not required
• Automotive experience and financial analysis experience are preferred but not required
