The Manager in Training (MIT) position is a short-term transitional role that provides work assignments and training opportunities to prepare MITs for promotion into Retail/Commercial Store Management positions. Progression to a management position may occur within approximately 8-12 weeks, depending on prior experience and performance.

Responsibilities

An MIT is a member of the management team, expected to live the pledge, deliver WOW! customer service, and drive store performance. Under the supervision of the Store Manager, the MIT will:

• Support overall store management, supervision, and policy implementation
• Manage financials, analyze, and reconcile monthly P&L statements
• Handle employee staffing, training, and development
• Manage inventory
• Lead customer service initiatives

MITs will complete operations and management skills training, learning about key business aspects and AutoZone culture. Performance and progression through the training are essential for continued consideration for management roles.

Note: Promotion to Store Manager or Commercial Sales Manager is not guaranteed and depends on performance and management openings.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of retail management or supervisory experience
• Ability to work a flexible full-time schedule, including mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime
• Bilingual skills are preferred but not required
• Previous automotive experience is preferred but not required
• Experience analyzing financial statements, including P&L, is preferred but not required
