The Manager Trainee is responsible for learning the duties of the Store Manager position and developing the skills required for a Store Manager role. Primary duties include delivering a Legendary Customer Experience, building the team, driving sales, managing inventory, managing profit and sales, expense control, reducing and managing shrink.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
As a Manager Trainee, you will observe and learn the following duties and skills required for a Store Manager role:
- Recruit, hire, develop, evaluate, discipline, and retain efficient team members.
- Deliver Legendary Customer Service through GURA:
- Greet the Customer.
- Uncover Customer’s Needs & Wants.
- Recommend Product Solutions.
- Ask to Add Value & Appreciate the Customer.
- Create and foster a welcoming environment and a sense of belonging in the Store. Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across our Team Members, Customers, Suppliers, and Communities. Ensure Team Members reflect the communities the Store serves. Foster a supportive and engaging environment for Team Members and Customers by embracing diverse backgrounds, perspectives, ideas, and innovative thinking.
- Schedule, organize, and plan daily activities for the team to ensure efficient store operations.
- Lead team members to ensure customers have a Legendary shopping experience that differentiates from competitors.
- Communicate company processes, policies, and directives to team members. Evaluate these processes for effectiveness and collaborate with District/Regional Managers to resolve issues.
- Create a desirable work environment through promotions, recognition, and empowerment.
- Handle problem solving and conflict resolution for team members and customers.
- Learn sales and profit management, aiming to achieve top and bottom-line results.
- Promote a safe and productive work environment.
- Manage daily merchandise flow to maintain stock levels and inventory controls.
- Learn to organize merchandise resets according to company standards.
- Implement and maintain merchandise presentation standards.
- Evaluate the competitive environment and coordinate with Operations and Merchandising teams to ensure quality and performance.
- Paperwork: Train on processing invoices, schedules, product orders, returns, and POs reports. Learn sales forecasting, payroll analysis, and budget review. Document team member evaluations and corrective actions.
- Inventory: Manage periodic price changes, communicate inventory needs to buyers and distribution centers, and collaborate to resolve inventory issues.
- Special Projects: Coordinate sales events, support district issues, and engage in community involvement.
- Team Member Relations: Reinforce company mission and values, address team issues, and develop team members for advancement.
- Budget/Auditing: Responsible for budgeting, sales forecasting, and store process audits.
Required Qualifications
Experience in retail, farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding is preferred. Supervisory experience is a plus. Must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driver’s license.
Education: High school diploma required; Bachelor’s in Agricultural Science or Business preferred. Equivalent education and experience will be considered.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities
- Valid driver’s license if driving for company business.
- Ability to process information and merchandise through POS systems.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and counting for documentation.
- Access to all store areas, including selling floor, stockroom, and register.
- Operate store equipment such as dollies, forklifts, computers, and registers.
- Ability to move merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Flexible working hours, including nights and weekends, especially during peak seasons.
- Minimum of 52 hours per week.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Travel to other store locations and company events.

- Standing, walking, reaching overhead, driving, lifting up to 50 lbs.
