The Manager in Training (MIT) position is a short-term transitional role that provides work assignments and training opportunities to prepare MITs for promotion into Retail/Commercial Store Management positions. Entry into the AutoZone MIT program may lead to a management position within approximately 8-12 weeks, depending on prior experience and performance.

Responsibilities
An MIT is a member of the management team. As part of management, an MIT is expected to Live The Pledge, deliver WOW! Customer Service, and drive store performance. Under the supervision of the Store Manager, the MIT will maintain an engaged, productive team through strong leadership, initiative, and leading by example.

The MIT supports the Store Manager in the overall operation of the store, including:

  • Overall store management, supervision, and policy implementation
  • Financial management - manage, analyze, and reconcile monthly P&L statements
  • Employee staffing, training, and development
  • Inventory management
  • Customer service leadership

MITs are responsible for completing operations and management skills training, learning about key aspects of the business and AutoZone culture. They must maintain satisfactory performance and demonstrate consistent progression through the training program to remain in the pipeline and be considered for management openings.

Note: Selection for the MIT position does not guarantee promotion into a Store Manager/Commercial Sales Manager role. Promotion depends on performance and management openings.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of retail management or supervisory experience
  • Ability to work a full-time flexible schedule, including mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime
  • Bilingual preferred, not required
  • Previous automotive experience preferred, not required
  • Experience analyzing financials, including Profit and Loss statements, preferred, not required
