The Manager in Training (MIT) position is a short-term transitional role providing work assignments and training to prepare MITs for promotion into Retail/Commercial Store Management positions. Entry into the program may lead to management positions within approximately 8-12 weeks, depending on prior experience and performance.
Responsibilities
As a management team member, an MIT is expected to Live The Pledge, deliver WOW! Customer Service, and drive store performance. Under the Store Manager's supervision, the MIT will maintain an engaged, productive team through strong leadership and initiative.
The MIT supports the Store Manager in:
- Overall store management, supervision, and policy implementation
- Financial management, including analyzing and reconciling monthly P&L statements
- Employee staffing, training, and development
- Inventory management
- Customer service leadership
MITs must complete operations and management training, learn about key business aspects and AutoZone culture, and demonstrate consistent progression to remain in the pipeline and be considered for management openings.
Note: Promotion to Store Manager/Commercial Sales Manager is not guaranteed and depends on performance and availability.
Requirements- 1-2 years of retail management or supervisory experience
- Ability to work a full-time flexible schedule, including mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime
- Bilingual preferred but not required
- Automotive experience and financial analysis skills are preferred but not required
