Job summary

KPMG LLP is seeking a Manager, Trade & Customs - Renewable Energy to join our Trade and Customs practice. You will advise energy clients on IRA requirements, Buy American rules, and country-of-origin determinations, guiding complex compliance efforts.

You will lead projects, develop training, and contribute to market development while collaborating with senior professionals. Travel may be required, and you must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years of direct renewable energy or domestic content regulatory compliance experience.
  • JD/LLM preferred; bachelor’s degree required; various credentials may be pursued after hire.
  • In-depth experience with U.S. domestic content and IRA regulations.

Job description

KPMG is currently seeking a Manager, Trade & Customs - Renewable Energy to join our Trade and Customs practice.

Responsibilities:
  • Meet with and provide advice to clients in including but not limited to the Energy industry, on domestic content requirements promulgated by the Inflation Reduction Act (“IRA”), Buy American Act, Buy America Act, and Trade Agreements, as well as trade and customs compliance matters
  • Lead and manage client projects including domestic content analysis, IRA prohibited foreign entity analysis, country of origin determinations, tariff impact assessment and mitigation, audits, reviews, program development and training among other areas
  • Support market development and thought leadership initiatives including writing articles, creating marketing collateral, and attending industry events
  • Research, write, and review advice on various domestic content and trade topics
  • Manage project engagement including assembling teams, overseeing work and full engagement responsibilities
  • Aid in the management, career development, and training of team members
  • Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMG’s respectful and courteous work environment
Qualifications:
  • Minimum five years of recent direct experience in renewable energy, and/ or domestic content regulatory compliance, for example, Treasury Regulation Sections 45, 45Y, 48, and 48E, 49 CFR 661, and 48 CFR 25.1 including domestic content bonus credit analysis, country of origin analysis, related supply chain review and developing sustainable compliance programs as an attorney, trade consultant, in-house professional or government official
  • JD / LLM degree is preferred; minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required; licensed CBL (Customs Broker License) issued by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, CUSICO (Certified U.S. Import Compliance Officer), CUSECO (Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer), Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) certification issued by the National Customs Broker and Forwarders Association of America, CPA, MBA, EA or JD/LLM, in addition to others on KPMG’s approved credential listing; any individual who does not possess at least one of the approved designations/credentials when their employment commences, has one year from their date of hire to obtain at least one of the approved designations/credentials; should you like to see the complete list of currently approved designations/credentials for the hiring practice/service line, your recruiter can provide you with that list
  • In-depth experience with U.S. domestic content and/or IRA regulations with the ability to address complex matters with practical and operational advice and solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication/presentation skills with strong technical skills with the ability to plan and conduct in-depth reviews of transactional data using data and analytics preferred; consulting experience in a leading tax/advisory or trade law firm is highly preferred
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally
