Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Sector in Palmdale, CA seeks a Manager Test Engineering 2 to lead a flight test instrumentation operations team. You will build, integrate, checkout and operate a large-scale flight test system while guiding 15+ direct reports and coordinating schedules and proposals.

You will present to senior leadership, manage staffing, and travel up to 10% as needed. A DoD Secret clearance is required, with PAR capability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in STEM with 9 years of experience or Master's with 7 years.
• Minimum 5 years of flight test or instrumentation/electrical fabrication experience.
• Proven management/leadership experience.
• Active DoD Secret clearance and ability to obtain PAR.

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Sector is looking for a Manager Test Engineering 2. The Instrumentation team located in Palmdale, CA and Edwards AFB.

This position will be leading a flight test instrumentation operations section within the classified portfolio of Aeronautics Sector. The position will be responsible for the build-up, integration, checkout, and operations of a large scale flight test instrumentation system.

In addition to managing staff (15+ direct reports) and technical activities, you will be responsible for creating and managing schedules, spend plans, staffing plans, and developing proposals for future work. You will also be preparing presentations/reports and routinely presenting status to senior leadership.

Up to 10% travel.

The candidate needs to be able to support any Shift (4x10 (M-TH, Tu-Fr) or 3x10 Fri-Sun), 1st shift or 2nd shift) based on business needs.

Basic Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Science in a STEM discipline AND 9 years of professional/military experience OR a Master's degree and 7 years of professional/military experience.
• Must have 5 years of flight test experience or instrumentation/electrical fabrication.
• Must have prior management/leadership experience
• Must have an active DoD Secret level clearance
• Must have ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Solid technical understanding of instrumentation systems and architectures
• Ability to interface with all levels of functional and program management
• Demonstrated ability to plan and execute technical projects from inception through completion with the ability to manage several tasks/projects simultaneously
• Ability to manage cost, schedule, and technical performance of SOW elements
• Experience coordinating preparation of proposals, business plans, and spend plans.
• Risk and opportunity management experience
• Customer relationship experience
• Control Account Management Experience

Primary Level Salary Range: $146,600.00 - $219,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
